Douglas H Teller was, born in Battle Creek, Michigan. He attended school in Battle Creek then moved to Kalamazoo where he received a BA Degree from Western Michigan University with a major in fine arts. He then pursued studies in painting and art; history at Michigan State University. The next; step was to Washington P.C. where he accepted a position with the Montgomery County Public schools and continued studies in art; history and archaeology at the Catholic University of America. The urge to get back to studio work became strong again so he transferred to the George Washington University and began Graduate studies in painting and printmaking. After earning an MFA he began teaching for GWU and became the first full time fine arts faculty member. introducing Design to the curriculum. In 1962 he began his teaching at the university and achieved Professor Emeritus status from there after 35 years teaching, design, printmaking and watercolor painting. In his years as a professional artist he has been in numerous organizations and various times has held offices in many of them. He ls currently a member of the Suncoast Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, the Southern Water Society and the Florida Artist's Group, Inc. In his background there are many exhibitions and awards. Of note is the exhibition of Venezuelan Landscapes at the Cosmos Club of Washington P.C. Other exhibitions include the Dimock Gallery of the George Washington University, Gallery Thomas Jefferson in Brasilia, Brazil, Middle Street; Gallery in Washington, Virginia. and the Arts Club of Washington P.C. He has taught workshops in France, England, Mexico and in the USA. His paintings hang In numerous private and public collections in the United States, Europe and Latin America. He has traveled extensively in France. England, Spain. Venezuela. Surinam. Brazil. Honduras, Costa Rica, Mexico and the islands of the Caribbean. Home and Studio for Teller are now on the remote Little Gasparilla Island off the SW coast of Florida. He now teaches workshops often for the Boca Grande Art; Alliance .
