SUE HINKEBEIN |
| Sue Hinkebein has discovered her love of art at midlife while working as the campus nurse at Bellarmine University. After taking all of the postgraduate courses in fine arts at Bellarmine she became involved in several art guilds, groups and art activities such as Gallopalooza and Heads Up KY. She has been a free lance illustrator and has taught painting in adult ed classes for more than 10 years. She is a past president and signature member of the Kentucky Watercolor Society and is currently the Director of Education. She has exhibited nationally as well as regionally and has won many awards. She enjoys painting "people pictures", fun and sometimes surreal images, abstracted realism, florals and just about anything that captures her ever-changing creative moods. Artist Statement: Discovering the possibilities of participation in art in midlife has brought a new found excitement and freedom into my life. At first I worked hard to embrace the "art rules of others. Presently, I am having a wonderful time discovering my own artistic expressions. My art sometimes reflects humor, absurdity, simplicity, or great detail depending on how I see life at that moment. It might become conceptually reflective, a simple "pretty picture" or represent the many other moods of my mind as I am constantly discovering and rethinking truth in my life. |
