Emeritus member of the Auburn University Architecture Faculty and the American Institute of Architects, Richard Millman was educated at the University of Michigan, and took additional course work at the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts and Cranbrook Academy. More recently he has taken workshops from a number of well-known watercolorists,e.g., Carlton Plummer, Alvaro Castagnet, Frank Webb, Jean Grastorf. His watercolors have won a number of awards in juried shows, and he has earned signature member status in the Georgia Watercolor Society, the Watercolor Society of Alabama, and the Southern Watercolor Society. He was selected to execute a painting to be enlarged to billboard dimensions and displayed in Montgomery in a competition sponsored by theAlabama Council on the Arts. He is listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA, and his work has been published in WATERCOLOR'94 (Fall Edition) and in the book CREATIVE WATERCOLOR by Mary Ann Beckwith. (1995) Publications include the AUBURN UNIVERSITY WALKING TOUR GUIDE (All text, paintings, drawings, graphics, and photographs by R. G. Millman.) Cover Design Drawings for 13 Tailgate Cookbooks published by Owl Bay, and a painting for the cover of FORECAST, a Florida State University Publication.
