GERI DAVIS
" My philosophy about creating a work of art is to stay true to what brought you to the subject matter in the first place, know your subject well, plan your journey, then enjoy the trip."
- Geri M. Davis

gerimdavis@mchsi.com
Geri Davis was born in Panama, Canal Zone and spent her formative years there. Her father was a Naval officer and because of his profession her family moved all over North, Central and South America. Traveling throughout these regions gave Geri the opportunity to experience nature at its loveliest.
Always with paper and pencil in hand, she began recording flora and fauna at an early age. Geri graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree and has a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Human Development. She has worked in clinical settings using art as therapy. Geri has also taught art at her own art school, as well as, at the elementary, high school and college levels for over 30 years. She has designed and produced a poster of the "Threatened and Endangered Wildflowers of Georgia". This poster is being used in the Muscogee County 3rd grade classes as an environmental awareness project. Geri is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, The Columbus Artists Guild, Watercolor Society of Alabama, Mississippi Watercolor Society, The American Art Therapy Association, State President of The National League of American Pen Women, Chairman of the Board of The Joseph House Art Gallery and a member of the Dean's Advisory Board for the School of Liberal Arts at Auburn University
ANN KROMHOUT, SECRETARY 2007-2008
WINGS ON MY WINDOWSILL
by
ANN KROMHOUT
“Born in Tennessee and raised in Texas, I have resided in Tallahassee, Florida, since 1974. Realization of my talent for art emerged in the fifth grade when I received a first place award in a city-wide poster contest. From that point I focused on studies which would lead me to a career in commercial art. I earned the degree of Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida and spent thirty-five years as a graphic designer in advertising and education.

ANN MAXWELL KROMHOUT
“After closing my commercial design studio in 1993, I began taking occasional fine arts classes. Then I studied watercolor under Joe McFadden, and my first watercolor portrait received an ‘Award of Excellence’ at the Thomasville GA Art Guild’s 1995 Summer Showcase.

“Currently my time is divided between watercolor studies and pursuing the goals of the Tallahassee Watercolor Society as its past Vice President, past President and Publications Editor. Now, the Southern Watercolor Society has become a major part of my life and has expanded my family of artists throughout its 19 states!

My goal is to become a full-time watercolor artist, to spend the rest of my life in the pursuit of fine art, sharing my knowledge, and painting images of wonderful creations that are found on our beautiful planet.”

“My sincere hope as an artist is that for those who pause long enough to view my art will better appreciate the beauty that surrounds us all.”
JEAN WEINER
Jean Weiner was born in 1960 and grew up in northern Illinois, loving nature from an early age. Her realistic, detailed, watercolors typically carry a theme of nature and wildlife, something that inspires her and speaks to her heart. She began her serious pursuit as a professional watercolor artist in 2004, after a battle with cancer. With a previous education background in science and engineering, Jean is primarily self taught as an artist. She attends workshops conducted by nationally recognized artists and credits watercolor artist Susan Bourdet, mentor and friend, with fueling her desire to press on as a professional artist. Along with the Southern Watercolor Society, she is also a member of The Georgia Watercolor Society, The Tallahassee Watercolor Society, and the Southern Artists' League. She enters fine art competitions throughout the region and has won many awards for her work, including 1st place in both the wildlife and livestock divisions of the 2006 Georgia National fair. She enjoys teaching watercolor classes and workshops, sharing the techniques she uses to develop her detailed painting style. She does numerous commission pieces and sells both her original and signed and numbered limited edition prints through her web-site, art shows, festivals, shops and galleries.
