About The Artist:

Sonya Walker

a native of Savannah, Georgia demonstrated a keen interest in drawing at the young age of six. As a very fquiet and shy child, she used drawing as a way of occupying her time.  After high school she went on to pursue her education in art by attending the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), where she major in Illustration.  After a year of study, she decided to withdraw and pursue her art career.
In 1989, Ms. Walker became an Associate Artist with J.P. Art Enterprise on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  Joe Pinckney, owner and operator of the business is an Artist as well.  While working with Mr. Pinckney, Sonya has exhibited at Valdosta State College in Valdosta, GA., The People's Theatre Gallery in Milwaukee, WI., and the Gullah festival in Beaufort, SC.
Sonya found new direction with her work when she joined forces with two local artists, Napoleon Wilkerson and Ogbonna Mossi.  Together they formed the collaborative called "Creative Mind Images".  The three came together to express a common interest through the medium of art.  The three knew that there was power in numbers.  They realized that images influence our thinking, so they wanted to address many issues through the medium of art.
