About the Artist
Jean Weiner was born in 1960 and grew up in northern Illinois, loving nature from an early age. Her realistic, detailed, watercolors typically carry a theme of nature and wildlife, something that inspires her and speaks to her heart.

She majored in biology while at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982. She received her Master of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1985. She worked as a biomedical engineer for a start-up, medical device company in north suburban Chicago until she and her husband started their family in 1991. She considers herself fortunate that she could be a stay home mom with her two children.

In 1997 her family relocated to Albany, GA when her husband received a career promotion. She has enjoyed being an active volunteer in the community serving as the president for both the Lee County Primary and Elementary Schools' PTO.

After a battle with cancer in 2003, Jean picked up her brushes again ending a 25 year hiatus from painting. In August 2004 she was juried into the Georgia Artists' Guild of Albany as an exhibiting member. She is also a member of the Southern Artists' League, the Tallahassee Watercolor Society, and the Georgia Watercolor Society. Although she is just getting started as a serious artist, she plans to use her artistic gift for all her remaining years, painting God's beautiful nature, in the hope that those who pause long enough to view her art might better appreciate the beauty that surrounds us all.
